Markiplier’s ‘Iron Lung’ Horror Film Sets January 2026 Theatrical Release

Horror fans, get ready to hold your breath. YouTube sensation Markiplier’s directorial debut, Iron Lung, has just locked in a chilling theatrical release for January 2026. The self-financed sci-fi nightmare, based on the hit 2022 indie game, promises non-stop terror in the tightest submarine ever filmed.

Mark Fischbach, aka Markiplier, wears every hat on this project. He directs, writes, produces and stars as the unnamed convict. Picture this: a grim future after the “Quiet Rapture” wipes out all stars and planets. Humanity clings to life in space stations.

The convict gets a suicide mission. He must pilot a rusty midget sub, dubbed the Iron Lung, into a blood ocean on a dead moon. Welded inside, he scrapes walls for resources. No escape. No mercy. Something lurks in the red depths.

Filming wrapped in April 2023. Post-production dragged on with intense edits, sounds and effects. Markiplier turned down streaming deals. He wants theatres only. “It deserves the big screen scare,” he insists. Fans cheered his grit. Self-funding gave him control but slowed the rollout. Now, distributors are on board for that January blast.

The cast packs star power. Caroline Rose Kaplan (Proof) joins in a key role. Sean McLoughlin, aka Jacksepticeye (Free Guy), adds YouTube Flair. Elle LaMont (Alita: Battle Angel) rounds it out. Game creator David Szymanski made a cameo. Expect R-rated gore. Rumours say it uses more fake blood than any horror flick. Composer Andrew Hulshut crafts the dread beats.

Trailers hit hard. The 2023 teaser drops you into the descent. Muffled radio crackles. Sparks fly. Silence swallows all. A fresh final trailer amps the surreal horror. Claustrophobia explodes. No views outside. Just instruments and doom. The game trapped players blind. The movie cranks that to 11.

Why the hype? Iron Lung nails isolation terror. Gamers raved about the 2022 original. Short but soul-crushing. Markiplier’s playthrough went viral. He poured millions into practical sets. Blood floods screens. Creaks echo. Fans buzz on Reddit. “2026 can’t come soon enough,” one posts. Others fear delays, but Variety confirms theatres nationwide.

Markiplier shares updates on YouTube and the Distractable podcast. “It’s done. Now it scares the world,” he teased. Producers Jeff Guerrero, Will Hype, and Amy Nelson backed the vision. No streaming rush. Pure cinema chills. Horror blends with a sci-fi edge. Think Underwater meets the Meg but tighter and bloodier.

Ticket alerts drop soon. Mark your calendar. Iron Lung dives deep into fear. Will you surface alive? Gamers and YouTube, thrill seekers—this is your nightmare fuel. Brace for impact.
